Black Swan's Rust-A-Way is a specially formulated compound that removes iron, rust, and other contaminants from most materials and surfaces. Ideal for use on tubs, sinks, water heaters, piping, tile, tools, chrome, steel and even white clothes.

THE PROBLEM
Iron is a natural ingredient in most water supplies. It is not noticeable because it is colorless. However, when iron is exposed to air it oxidizes and can form insoluble rust stains. These stains can appear on anything that has contact with water - toilets, water heaters, dishwashers, clothes that are washed in water, water softener cleaners, etc.

DIRECTIONS FOR IRON AND RUST REMOVAL
GLASSWARE, CHINAWARE, PORCELAIN, CHROME, CONCRETE, METAL SURFACES, ETC:
Wet a small area and rub on Black Swan Rust-A-Way on the area, moisten and leave on 5 minutes. Repeat several times if necessary. When iron and rust spots have disappeared, rinse surface thoroughly with water.

DISHWASHERS OR WASHING MACHINES:
With the machine empty, add 1/4 lb. of Black Swan Rust-A-Way instead of soap. Run machine thru normal cycle. Repeat if necessary.

FABRICS:
Dissolve 1/4 lb. or Black Swan Rust-A-Way in one quart or warm water and dip stained portion of clothing in the solution for a few minutes. Rub lightly and rinse thoroughly. Always test a small piece of the fabric first, as this treatment may harm or discolor some items.

TOILET BOWLS AND FLUSH TANKS:
Remove any in-tank cleaners and flush. For toilet bowls add 1/4 lb. of Black Swan Rust-A-Way to bowl. Saturate sides under rim with toilet brush. Let stand until stain is gone. Repeat as needed. For flush tanks raise water level above stained area. Add 1/4 lb. of Black Swan Rust-A-Way. Let stand overnight. Repeat as necessary.

DIRECTIONS FOR WATER SOFTENER CLEANER
Begin by preparing a solution of 1 lb. of Black Swan's Rust-A-Way in one gallon of warm water in glass or plastic container, then treat per manufacturer's instructions or by the type of softener.

SOFTENER WITH PRESSURE BRINE TANKS:
The best time to clean a softener is when the brine tank requires refilling with salt. With the water drained down in the brine tank, add the solution to the top opening. Fill with salt and continue operation as usual. Refrigerate softener.

SOFTENER WITHOUT BRINE TANKS:
Regenerate softener as usual, but add the solution through the opening along with the salt.

MANUAL SOFTENERS:
Backwash and regenerate with salt as usual. Add solution and let stand for one hour. Rinse thoroughly.

AUTOMATIC SOFTENERS:
Follow the manufacturer's instructions to regenerate the water softener. Pour the solution into the storage tank brine well and start regeneration cycle immediately. Allow the softener to finish regeneration.
